In 1303 Sir Robert was granted lands in Crossland by his father
Sir Robert became involved in a feud with Sir John Eland, High Sheriff of Yorkshire when a neighbour named Exley killed Eland's nephew and then got protection at Crossland Hall.

The quarrel extended with Lockwood of Lockwood Hall and Sir Hugh Quarmby becoming involved. Both these men were killed by Eland one night and he then marched to Crossland where he found the drawbridge up. Early in the morning a servant opened the bridge, letting Eland and his armed men into Crossland. Sir Robert was dragged from his bed, and beheaded with a sword in his own hall. His sons were then invited to have breakfast with Eland.

In Cromwell Bothan Wood, Adam Beaumont seized the bridle of Eland's horse causing it to go back on its haunches. Eland jumped off and drew his sword but was cut down by the four younger men. these four men were not happy with just killing Eland so they killed his son. Eland's son was shot with an arrow at the Elland Mill dam while he was traveling with his family to church for Palm Sunday. Quarmby was killed in the fray, William Lockwood escaped, and Adam Beaumont joined the Knights of Rhodes and went to fight in Hungary against the Turks. Adam was killed in Spain in 1350.

Katherine Beaumont of Crosland m.William Armytage

Roger de Crosland:-: Roger de Crosland has distinction. He is the earliest known, specifically named member of the ancient family of Crosland. Roger was born late 1100s at Crosland Hill in West Yorkshire and married Phillipa, daughter of Ufton. His son was Adam de Crosland and his father may have carried that same name.

Which Ufton is not mentioned. I assume it to be Robert Beaumont of Ufton. I believe the Beaumont's were there first ,..or it could be a Perkins as the Perkins took over Ufton.. Phillipa de Ufton is 22 great grandmother of Theodore L Durgan

Grace Crosland: Grace Crosland, was born circa abt1285 the daughter and heiress of Sir Edward Crosland, Knight, and married abt 1310 Sir Robert Beaumont, Knight. The Crossland estate and manor may have passed to the Beaumonts in Grace's union with Sir Robert.

Alice Crosland: 11th great grandmother of Theodore L Durgan. Alice Crosland was born about 1557 the daughter of Thomas Crosland of Crosland Hill and Marina Hawksworth. He descends from Roger de Crosland

Alice married Leonard Calvert of Kipling and became the mother of George Calvert. George Calvert was elevated to peerage in 1624 and became Baron Baltimore of Baltimore. He was granted lands in America north and east of the Potomac River, lands now known as the State of Maryland, USA.

John Calvert the brother of George became the 10 great grandfather of Ted L Durgan.

. George Calvert died before taking possession of the lands and his 1st son, Cecil Calvert, inherited both lands and title according to the law of primogeniture. Cecil appointed his younger brother, Leonard Calvert, First Governor of the Colony of Maryland.

The Great Seal of Maryland was brought to the Colony of Maryland from England in 1634 by Governor Calvert. That seal was decorated with the Arms of Calvert and Crosland quartered according to heraldic order. The same heraldic markings were much later adopted by the State of Maryland as the flag of the state.

Nathaniel Crosland: Nathaniel Crosland of Crosland Hill died about 1644. Nathaniel was Captain of Horse in the Army of King Charles I during the Civil War.

Sir John Crosland, Knight: Sir John Crosland, Knight, was born at Crosland Hill about 1610 and later seated at Newby-Hall in Ripon. He was was Knighted during the reign of Charles II and was in the service of Roger, Earl of Rutland. Sir John died in 1670 and was buried at Ripon.

George Crosland: George Crosland received B.A and M.A. degrees Cambridge University and was Vicar or Almondbury, Yorks from 1598 until the year he died which was 1636.

Thomas Crosland: Thomas Crosland of Crosland Hill was admitted to Jesus College at Cambridge in 1677, received B.A and M.A. degrees from Cambridge, and incorporated at Oxford in 1684. Thomas was ordained a deacon and priest and served as Rector of Kirk Bramwith, Yorks 1685-1714. He sold Crosland-Hill to Matthew Wilkinson of Greenhead.

Thomas Pearson Crosland, MP: In 1865, T.P. Crosland was a member of the House of Commons from the parliamentary borough of Huddersfield of West Yorkshire.
